How the location QR code works
If you enter two numbers separated by a comma (latitude, longitude), the QR code encodes those exact coordinates.
If you enter an address or place name, the QR code opens a search for that text in the phone's map app.
Worked example
Entering '40.7580, -73.9855' makes the QR code open that exact location on the map (Times Square, New York).
Frequently asked questions
- What format should the coordinates use?
- Latitude and longitude separated by a comma, e.g. '40.7580, -73.9855'.
- Can I use just a place name?
- Yes, if no coordinates are detected the tool treats the text as a search address.
- Which app does the map open in?
- The phone automatically opens its default map app (Google Maps, Apple Maps...).
