How to use the 30-minute timer
This tool is already set to exactly 30 minutes, so there's nothing to configure: just press 'Start'.
You can pause and resume it whenever you want; when it reaches zero, an alert will sound and the time will change color.
Widely used for study sessions with the Pomodoro technique, short home workouts, or timing a work break during the day.
Although the classic Pomodoro uses 25-minute blocks, many people prefer rounding up to 30 minutes for convenience when glancing at the clock; if you want the original Pomodoro with its 5-minute breaks, the customizable timer lets you set it precisely.
Worked example
Press 'Start' and the countdown will go from 30 minutes down to 0:00, sounding an alert when it finishes. It's also the typical length of a spin class or a restorative nap that doesn't dip into deep sleep.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I change the duration?
- No: this timer is fixed at 30 minutes. If you need a different duration, use the customizable countdown timer.
- Can I pause it midway?
- Yes, the pause button stops the countdown without losing the remaining time.
- Does the alarm sound even if the tab is in the background?
- Yes, the sound alert plays even if you've switched to another tab, as long as you haven't closed this page.
- Is this the same as a Pomodoro?
- Similar but not identical: the classic Pomodoro uses 25-minute work blocks followed by a 5-minute break. If you want that exact format, use the dedicated Pomodoro calculator.
