How to use the classroom timer
Enter how many minutes the activity will last and press 'Start'. The number is shown large so it's readable from the back of the room.
When time is up, the tool plays a sound alert so you don't have to keep watching the screen.
Besides exams, it's used to time oral presentations, group work, or rotating between activities, making it clear to the whole class how much time is left without the teacher having to announce it out loud.
In a classroom it helps to see the remaining time without having to ask. Project the timer on the interactive whiteboard or a projector and the whole group will know how long is left for the exercise, the test or the activity.
Ideas: split a lesson into blocks (explanation, practice and sharing), give 5 minutes of thinking time before pair discussion, time silent reading or set a fixed window for packing up at the end. With a visible clock students organise themselves better and the teacher stops watching the time.
